The Hanahata Memorial Garden, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, is a traditional Japanese garden known among international visitors as a place where they can experience Japanese culture. During the autumn illumination, held to coincide with the peak season for autumn foliage, visitors can stroll through the garden—enclosed by stone walls and earthen fences—and enjoy the sight of colorful leaves glowing against the night sky.
On the illumination days (November 22, 23, 24, 29, and 30), a tea ceremony service, Teicha-seki, will also be offered, where guests can savor tea while viewing the illuminated garden from a traditional Japanese tatami room. Other warm drinks will also be available at the cafe.
Spend a relaxing autumn evening enjoying the unique illumination of Hanahata Memorial Garden, where maple trees, pine trees, waterfalls, and stone arrangements create a beautiful harmony.
Note: The illumination is held only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays during the event period.
Note: This event is sponsored in part by the Autumn Illuminations Model Business Grant, a program run jointly by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government & the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau.
