The Mt. Takao Wakaba Festival showcases the fresh greenery of spring at Mt. Takao, which Michelin's famous travel guide rated as three-star, its highest rating.

The cherry blossoms that flower in early April give way to green growth as May approaches that covers the whole mountain.

This festival is packed with events for people of all ages—with shows by local characters and artists, street performances, a nursery rhyme concert, and koto (Japanese harp) performances. There will also be a special show of kuruma-ningyo puppetry, a type of puppetry unique to the Hachioji area.

Although Mt. Takao is especially well known for its beautiful fall foliage, spring here is just as great, with hiking and other fun activities for the whole family.
