In Jimbocho, between the Surugadai and Sendaimae crossroads of Kanda, the streets are lined with numerous used bookstores. This is the venue for the annual Kanda Used Book Festival, the biggest marketplace for secondhand books in Japan. Seemingly endless rows of bookshelves are set up in a line along Yasukuni Dori, the main street. Meanwhile, just around the corner at the Tokyo Used Book Hall, there will be a special sale of rare and valuable books. Various talks will be held there too. Other special events include the Zoshoin Festival, a festival of book ownership stamps. Delivery services are available, so you can buy stacks of hardbacks, safe in the knowledge that you won't need to carry them all home. Note that the Zoshoin Festival and the delivery services are yet to be determined.
This event is like the Year-end Sales of the secondhand book world, with around a million volumes up for grabs.
