Tokyo Jazz is being held for the 21st time, in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre.
This festival, produced by globally renowned jazz composer Miho Hazama, will welcome a special guest: the popular artist Kaho Nakamura. The lineup also features trumpeter Kuroda Takuya, known for his wide-ranging work and collaboration with Misia; pianist Ayatake Ezaki and drummer Jun Ishiwaka from millennium parade; plus the talented and popular bassist Takashi Sugawa. They will perform a brand-new show themed around cinema and jazz.
Attendees will hear songs from "Belle," which featured Kaho Nakamura , and "Dancer in the Dark;" songs from the new adaptation of Leonard Bernstein's "West Side Story," which received seven nominations at this year's Academy Awards, including for Best Picture and Best Director; songs from "Soul," which won Best Animated Picture and Best Original Score at the 93rd Academy Awards, and featured music written by Jon Batiste, who won five Grammy Awards this April; and songs from the anime series "Neon Genesis Evangelion," originally written by Shiro Sagisu, with arrangements by Miho Hazama.
This varied program presents film music with a fresh spirit, and brings it out with lush and blissful orchestral sound.
