Yuyake Koyake Fureai no Sato is a village-like recreation facility that offers hands-on nature experiences amid the vast greenery of the surrounding mountains. It inspired a famous nursery rhyme called "Yuyake Koyake" (Sunset).
In June, the facility holds an event called Firefly Nights (Hotaru no Yube). “Heike” and "Genji" fireflies glow in the dark near the waterways flowing through the facility. These fireflies rest deep in the greenery by day, but on warm nights they take to the air to offer a romantic spectacle that marks the onset of the Japanese summer.
In addition, you can experience rice planting in mid-May, and take a stroll while viewing the hydrangeas that color the facility from mid- to late June. Come visit this verdant village full of nature to enjoy the seasonal charm of early summer.
