Note: The 2023 installment of this event has already taken place.
Over 100,000 items—including men and women's shoes, belts, wallets and leather shoe-related products—are on sale from 60 to 90% off at this event. Say your last goodbyes to your favorite worn-out pair of shoes during a special memorial ceremony before finding yourself a new pair or two. As an added bonus, shrine staff pray for participants' foot health.
Attendees who make a purchase and those who bring along the event flyer will be entered in a lottery to win a voucher for a hotel stay for two, as well as other prizes. Additionally, there will be a ceremony for the Japan Shoes Best Dresser Awards, with separate divisions for men, women and seniors. Other highlights include presentations by skilled shoemakers, a fashion show and a parade of kutsu mikoshi, portable shoe-shaped shrines in honor of both men's and women's footwear.
