Fukuro Matsuri (Ikebukuro Festival) ふくろ祭り

Fukuro Matsuri (Ikebukuro Festival) was launched in 1968 by four shop associations in the Ikebukuro Station West Exit area. Today, the event has grown so large that the whole of Ikebukuro shares the festive mood.

Following an opening ceremony on the first evening, the second day features a mikoshi palanquin festival including a mikoshi parade accompanied by taiko drumming, a shishimai lion dance, and ohayashi Japanese instrumental music, with a yoimikoshi palanquin parade in the evening and an Okinawan eisa dance show.
