If you make it to Hachijojima Island, why not go for a leisurely hike on Mt. Hachijo-Fuji, with its highly logical name: it's on Hachioji, but looks like Mount Fuji. Near the 7th base on the hiking trail, look for the Fureai-Bokujo Farm, a working dairy farm. You'll see happy cows on lush green fields, set against mountains and the Pacific Ocean. You can pass right by the animals in their quiet, peaceful home while you hike up to the peak of Mt. Hachijo-Fuji. The farm offers an observation deck with great views of Mt. Mihara, Sokodo and Yaene ports, the airport, and local towns. Milk from the happy cows of Fureai-Bokujo Farm is used to make ice cream which you can purchase at local stores.
