Although located in the middle of the city with convenient transportation access, the hotel is in a quiet neighborhood near Tokyo Dome and the Jimbo-cho antique bookstore district.

Michelin recognition for five years running

Since it opened for business five years ago, this hotel has consistently earned two pavilions in the ‘comfort hotel’ category of the world-renowned Michelin guide, attracting guests from all over the world. The hotel proudly welcomes many foreign visitors, many from Europe and North America, while offering a Japanese-influenced stylish and streamlined guest experience.

The Essence of Japanese Style

Comfort rooms are calm, relaxing guest rooms featuring shoji Japanese paper doors

The hotel offers four types of guest rooms, Standard, Superior, Comfort, and Premier. Taller guests will appreciate the high ceilings in guest rooms. Of these, the recommended Comfort rooms are cozy twin rooms with attached balconies (although guests cannot go out onto the balcony). Rather than overpowering elegance, the design concept for the hotel is that of Edo-era Japanese simplicity. Inspired by the understated grace of Edo-era “komon” textile patterns, the hotel interior prioritizes delicate attention to detail over grand statements. In a city with many out-of-the-ordinary accommodation options, Hotel Niwa Tokyo aims to provide an “extension of the everyday” hotel experience, allowing guests to relax in an elegant Japanese space as comfortably as if in their own homes.

Guests will appreciate many complimentary services

Free wireless LAN internet is available throughout the hotel. Computers in the first floor business lounge can be used 24 hours a day for work or browsing the internet, and there is also a combined printer/copier machine in the lounge (charges apply). On the third floor are the hotel’s workout room and Refresh Lounge. Designed for guests who wish to exercise while traveling, the workout room provides the latest treadmills and exercise bicycles as well as yoga mats and a scale. For guests who wish to relax in peace, the hotel recommends enjoying the massage chairs available in the Refresh Lounge while looking out over a rooftop garden. The lounge is open 24 hours.

The workout room is open from 6am to 10pm

Enjoy authentic cuisine with garden views

High ceilings and windows opening onto a courtyard garden give the dining space a sense of openness

The hotel’s two restaurants serve Japanese and healthy French cuisine. The Japanese restaurant, Yukuri, references Japanese words that mean making connections between people as well as unhurried relaxation. The restaurant aims to provide guests with exactly this kind of experience while they enjoy kaiseki-style Japanese cuisine. Lieu is a grill and bar named for both the French word for ‘place’ and the Japanese word for ‘flow,’ referencing the sound of water flowing in the restaurant’s courtyard garden. Lieu serves healthy French cuisine featuring fragrant herbs, premium olive oil, and generous amounts of in-season vegetables. The French-style salad bar offers hard-to-find seasonal vegetables and is especially popular health-conscious guests.

The beautiful garden, or ‘niwa’ for which the hotel is named, which presents the beauty of each of the four seasons.

Special Features

The courtyard garden stretching from the hotel entranceway was designed following the concept of flowing streams and groves of trees. The spacious, scenic garden lets visitors enjoy nature with all five senses, with trees and plants that change colors through the four seasons.
