Today the northern Asakusa area was dotted with low price hotels, however Hotel New Koyo was the first to establish lodging specifically for foreign tourists (primarily backpackers) who were having difficulty finding a place to stay.
Since 1995, Hotel New Koyo has entertained guests from over 180 countries, completely furnished and with a staff versed in a number of foreign languages. 90% of the guests are foreign nationals with the majority hailing from Europe, America, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Thailand, word has gotten out about Hotel New Koyo, not to mention their repeat guests.

Simple and clean interior

The hotel features wireless Internet running through the facility and guests without their own PCs are free to use those provided by the hotel at no charge. In addition, Hotel New Koyo also includes a coin laundromat, a shared kitchen, a vending machine for beverages, and at such an affordable rate, the hotel prides itself on its services and ease of use.
Guest rooms are small, though provide ample privacy for visitors. The hotel also offers both Western and Japanese style rooms, so customers can see what it’s like sleeping with a warm futon on tatami.

Most of the staff working at Hotel New Koyo have experience living abroad long term or are world travelers themselves, and as they not only can speak a variety of foreign languages but also can sympathize and are knowledgeable about a variety of world cultures, they work hard to give guests a homely place to come back to in the evening.

Near the hotel, there is Café Tepui, a favorite among visitors serving coffee and alcohol where travelers can get together and swap stories and trade info on where to go next.
