New Hotels in Tokyo!

Catching up with new hotels popping up all over Tokyo is becoming hard! Among them, we choose three to introduce in this issue.

1. The Millennials Shibuya, Open on March 15 (Shibuya Sta.)
The Millennials Shibuya is a different approach to Japan’s famous “capsule hotel” theme with more common spaces suitable for multiple purposes such as work, cooking, play, etc.

Calling Out All Meat-lovers: Nikufes (Meat Festival)

This is a very popular food event where delicious meat dishes from famous restaurants in Tokyo and all over Japan are available. This year it will be held in Odaiba for 10 days from April 27 through May 6. You can sample hearty steaks, juicy burgers called “drinkable burgers” and other exquisite dishes. Also, you can compare famous brand beef and rare parts of beef from across the country. Enjoy this outdoor event in early summer.

All of Japan’s Sake in Tokyo

The world of sake, Japan’s national drink, can be overwhelming so “CRAFT SAKE WEEK at ROPPONGI HILLS 2018” is a great starting point! At Roppongi Hills Arena, from April 20 to 30, JAPAN CRAFT SAKE COMPANY led by former soccer player Hidetoshi Nakata will produce this event, in which 110 breweries will set up stalls (10 stalls per day for 11 days). Together with sake, you can also enjoy the original menus of highly selected restaurants. Add some art and music and you have the perfect sake crash course!

Detective Conan CAFE

Even in a culture brimming with popular manga/anime, some stand out and “Case Closed” (aka “Detective Conan”) is one of them. If you’re one of its millions of fans, from March 29 to May 7 you can immerse yourself in its world at two places for a limited-time only “Detective Conan CAFE,” one in SHIBUYA BOX and one in Yurakucho Marui, both of which are specially decorated with the anime-related characters. Enjoy original menu drinks, dishes and merchandise, all themed after Conan and his adventures!

Editor’s note

The other day in late February after an early spring storm was over, I spotted a cherry tree in full blossom next to the Kanda River, almost under our offices’ windows. Was it an early bloomer that was there since winter? We couldn’t tell, but it made us feel that the long winter’s veil has been lifted and that soon Tokyo will be swimming in all hues of pink!
