Overview
“Shichifukujin Meguri” is go on a pilgrimage and pray for good luck by visiting temples and shrines that enshrine the Seven Gods of Good Fortune, who have been worshiped as deities bringing luck since the Muromachi period (1336-1573). Pilgrimages to the Shichifukujin (Seven Gods of Good Fortune) are often made during the New Year Week (January 1 to 7), but the “Shinjuku Yamanote Shichifukujin” tour is unique in that you can visit the gods throughout the year. These temples and shrines are said to have been established early in the Showa era (1926-1989). They offer not only Shuin (seals) but also miniature statues of the gods and an ornamental treasure ship. The “Shinjuku Yamanote Shichifukujin Guide Map” lists recommended routes, the seven gods of good fortune, and the temples and shrines where they are enshrined, in both English and Japanese. Why not gather good fortune while walking around Shinjuku?
