Overview
The Sumida Hokusai Museum holds and displays many works of the world-famous Ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai born in Sumida Ward. At the museum introduce the works of Hokusai and his disciples and explain the relationship between Hokusai and Sumida in an easy-to-understand manner. The unique and innovative exterior of the museum, covered with aluminum panels, was designed by world-renowned architect Kazuyo SEJIMA, and you can see the Sky Tree from inside. The permanent exhibition with Hokusai’s masterpieces, high-definition real-size replicas provide an entertaining way to gain a deeper understanding of Hokusai’s lifelong works. The special exhibition, the challenge of the new planning exhibition with various approaches, you can enjoy Ukiyo-e works by Hokusai and his disciples in special exhibitions on various themes. You can meet various works throughout the year to changes with each exhibition. We are dedicated to sharing about Hokusai with the community and world.
