Great views of Rainbow Bridge

Odaiba Marine Park

The Odaiba Marine Park is regarded as one of Tokyo's most popular hangout spots in the warmer months for a good reason: its beach, which offers spectacular views of the sunset behind Rainbow Bridge. While swimming is prohibited in the water, you can indulge in watersports like windsurfing—or pretend that you are in New York by snapping a selfie with a smaller-scale replica of the Statue of Liberty.

Geek out over the future of science and technology

National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation

Also known as the Miraikan, the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation is a science center is chock-full of hands-on exhibits where you can learn about the new frontiers of technology in areas such as robotics and life sciences. The museum's centerpiece is the gigantic globe-like Geo-Cosmos, a three-dimensional display comprising 10 million pixels, which allows you to see the current state of the Earth. You can also imagine life as an astronaut on board the International Space Station with a realistic exhibit and model. With so much to see, a visit to the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation is a great way to enjoy Odaiba with kids.

Home of Tokyo's new fish market

Toyosu Station

A day spent exploring Tokyo Bay wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the reclaimed waterfront district of Toyosu that is perhaps best known as the new site for Tokyo's renowned Tsukiji Market. But there is more to the neighborhood besides its recent claim to fame, including a pier for water buses that ply Tokyo Bay, as well as a mega shopping mall bursting with fun activities for the whole family. It is approximately 7 minutes from Yurakucho Station via the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line. You can also get there via the Yurikamome transit service, as well as by water bus from Asakusa.

Here, kids become adults

KidZania Tokyo

The most family-friendly activity of the day has to be a visit to KidZania Tokyo, where you can teach your children the value of hard-earned money. Here, within the mega Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu mall, they can play pretend in a range of adult careers and earn their keep in the local “kidZo” currency along the way. With about 100 roles from police officers to firefighters, opticians to journalists, bakers to actors, your kids can live their future ambitions. There is even a bank, where your kids can open a bank account for their hard-earned kidZos in a lesson on capitalism and finance. They can later indulge in a binge of retail therapy as a reward for their hard work, by splurging their "money" on souvenirs at a department store.

Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu

As your kids play pretend under trained supervision at KidZania Tokyo, you may wish to break the (real world) bank at the Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu mall. Among the more than 200 shops in the mall are perennial favorites like Tokyu Hands, Muji and Uniqlo.
