Tour a real Japan Airlines hangar and learn about the history of aviation. Visit shops and restaurants in the style of old-time Japan. See one of the best views of Tokyo while planes take off into the night.

  • Tours of the Sky Museum are in Japanese but English guide books are provided
  • Get to Haneda Airport’s Stage of Stardust observation deck in time to watch the sun set

Hamamatsucho station

Two JR East lines stop at Hamamatsucho Station: the Yamanote Line and the Keihin-Tohoku Line. All trains stop at Hamamatsucho, which is the last stop on the Tokyo Monorail from Haneda Airport.

Take the Tokyo Monorail from Hamamatsu-cho Station to Shin-Seibijo Station

Shin-Seibijo Station

Shin-Seibijo Station is the ninth stop on the Tokyo Monorail, between the Terminal 3 and Terminal 1・2, and is only accessible on local trains. Be sure not to board an express train at Hamamatsucho, and do not get off at Seibijo Station, another station with a similar name.

Haneda JAL factory tour at the Sky Museum

The tour of the JAL factory is 100 minutes long and is comprised of an opening lecture on aviation and the history of Japan Airlines, 20 minutes of free time in the Exhibition Area, and a tour of two airport hangars where you can get a close-up look of current planes. Highlights of the museum include exhibitions of old uniforms and aircraft technology, a mock cockpit with buttons and controls to play with, and the chance to see the special gold seat once used by the emperor.

Edo Ko-Ji

The fourth floor of the terminal 3 has a treat in store for visitors. Edo Ko-Ji is an area that harkens back to the years between 17th and 19th century Japan, when Tokyo first flourished as the center of the nation’s government and economy. Visit shops offering unique locally-made souvenirs, from ceramics to woodblock prints. Dine at one of the many restaurants serving both local specialties and international cuisine.

Stage of Stardust

Take the Tokyo Monorail three stops away to Haneda Airport Terminal 2, the domestic terminal. On the fifth floor is a grand observation deck overlooking the airport and beyond. The view here is truly special, as you can see Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, Rainbow Bridge, and Tokyo Gate Bridge all in the same panorama. Catch the sunset and watch the stars come out over Tokyo. Here is a perfect place to end your aviation-themed day.
