A trendy neighborhood with a laid-back atmosphere

Just a few minutes from Shibuya, Daikanyama is one of Tokyo's most desirable residential areas. The narrow backstreets are dotted with cool boutiques, cafés and clubs that attract fashionable young locals. Daikanyama T-Site bookstore has become a de facto community center, with regular exhibitions and artsy pop-ups.

General Tips

  • While the area is quiet during the day, at night, it hosts some of Tokyo's best clubs, including Unit and Liquidroom
  • Head north from Daikanyama Station to the Log Road complex, for craft beer and shopping with a relaxed, outdoorsy vibe
  • Okura specializes in traditional indigo dye, with contemporary design, and downstairs, Bombay Bazar serves simple, healthy dishes
