Tokyo Fuji Art Museum, 492-1 Yanomachi, Hachioji-shi, Tokyo
2019-10-5 - 2020-1-19

Masterpieces from the three greatest centuries of French painting

This exhibition, carried out with the cooperation of over 20 major museums in the UK and France, including the Palace of Versailles collection, the Musée d'Orsay, the British Museum, and the National Gallery of Scotland, presents masterpieces from the three greatest centuries of French painting. The Fuji Art Museum has put a great deal of effort into acquiring French paintings since its opening, and its precious collection comprised of works from the 17th to the 19th centuries is also on display. The exhibition follows the course of French art, from the classicism of the 17th century to the rococo style of the 18th, and the neo-classicism and romanticism of the 19th century, up to the eve of impressionism.
