The first comprehensive exhibition of Basquiat in Japan

While rooted in 20th century modernism, his work incorporated subjects distinctive of his identity as a black artist, including jazz and hip hop music, African folk tradition, and racial issues. His work is frequently exhibited at some of the most famous galleries and museums in the West.
