A look at notable works by Fujimoto Yoshimichi, 100 years after his birth

To mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of ceramic artist Fujimoto Yoshimichi (1919-1992), the museum will exhibit notable works made between the 1970s and his final years. The museum’s founder, Kikuchi Tomo, spent a lot of time looking at Fujimoto’s work from this period, and enjoyed artistic exchanges with him. She was particularly devoted to collecting examples of Yoshimichi’s iroe-jiki (a type of colored porcelain). This event will feature pieces from various stages of the artist’s career including pre-iroe-jiki works.
