“Insects: Models for Design” 虫展 −デザインのお手本−

21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, Midtown Garden, Tokyo Midtown, 9-7-6 Akasaka, Minato City, Tokyo
2019-7-19 - 2019-11-4

Amazing insects exhibited as models for design

In many ways, insects reflect the natural world. Having existed and evolved for far longer than humankind, the variety that exists in the insect world seems to show off the possibilities of creation. This exhibition welcomes graphic designer Taku Satoh as its director, and insect-loving anatomist Takeshi Yoro as supervisor. It experiments with the idea of insects and their boundless mystery as models for design, displaying pieces by designers, architects, structural engineers and artists which take inspiration from insects. This is a chance to see what we can learn about design from insects, their wonderful variety, and their relationship to humans.
