Scene paintings from beautiful animations including Studio Ghibli’s

Nizo Yamamoto (b. 1953) continues working to this day as one of Japan’s leading scenic artists and art directors. After studying architecture and painting, at the young age of 24 he was appointed art director for the TV anime series Future Boy Conan, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, later fulfilling the same role on Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Grave of the Fireflies, Princess Mononoke, and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time among others. With a particular focus on scene paintings for animation, this exhibition features around 220 pieces including sketches and image boards from his early career to his latest projects.
