World-renowned Japanese crafts, as seen through children’s eyes

In 2002, the Craft Gallery for Kids program was begun in response to the opinion that it’s difficult for children to appreciate the artistry of traditional crafts. In this program, Japanese crafts, which are deeply rooted in everyday life and have drawn international attention, are showcased from a child’s point of view, using worksheets called “reference cards”. This year’s exhibition will focus on the fundamental principles of crafts as perceived by children, reorganizing the event’s previously-used themes which include “color”, “pattern”, “texture” and “fittings”. This is the museum’s final summer exhibition before its relocation.
