The National Art Center, Tokyo, 7-22-2 Roppongi, Minato City, Tokyo

"Vienna on the Path to Modernism" is an experimental exhibition that starts with masterpieces from the second half of the 18th century and the Biedermeier period (1814-1848), and moves on to works by Klimt, Schiele, Kokoschka, fin-de-siècle master Otto Wagner, Adolf Loos, and the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshop). On display are 74 oil paintings, industrial crafts, graphics, and textiles—a grand total of about 400 items. This is a definitive presentation of the astonishingly rich culture of Vienna.
