The Tokyo Jazz Festival presents constantly evolving jazz music that crosses borders and generations. The 2023 festival features a special program titled "Neo-Symphonic Jazz at Geigeki," made in collaobration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre and Miho Hazama, who has been working with the festival since 2019. This year's theme is "Mirage Future," presenting a vision for the future of this ever-changing genre.
International jazz composer and conductor Miho Hazama will be joined by guests including Bigyuki, at the cutting edge of the modern music scene; Japanese hiphop queen Awich; and Patrick Bartley, who fuses pop culture and jazz. The Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra provides emotional performances featuring music by Sakamoto Ryuichi, Steve Reich, Kamasi Washington, and Bigyuki. Enjoy a program which transcends genres and time to explore the potential and future of music.
