Horaine Beach 蓬莱根海岸

Hahajima Island, Ogasawara Village, Tokyo

A picture-perfect beach on a far-flung island in the Pacific

Horaine Beach is a small sandy beach on the remote island of Hahajima. Its white sand is great for sunbathing, and its clear, shallow waters full of tropical fish are perfect for swimming and wading. Near the beach is a coral reef that also makes it an ideal snorkeling spot. Cliffs and rock formations tower at the edges of the beach.

Horaine Beach is slightly difficult to access; it takes a while to walk there from the nearest thoroughfare and it is only accessible at low tide. The beach can be a little rocky, so it's recommended to reach the shore by swimming there from another entry point. Check the tide before entering, as the beach may completely disappear when the tide is high. That being said, it is incredibly picturesque and never crowded.
