Waters that spring eternal

Masugata-no-ike Pond, a spring water stream that flows from the headstreams of the nearby Nogawa River, is said to have healing properties. Local folklore tells of a woman called Tamatsukuri Komachi who recovered from illness after bathing in it. As she healed, her former beauty returned to her, giving the pond its name: Masugata (composed of the characters for "true" and "shape"). Located in the vicinity of Kokubunji Yakushido Temple, combine a visit to Masugata-no-ike Pond with a stroll along the nearby Otaka-no-Michi path, where the noble Owari Tokugawa family practiced falconry during the Edo period (1603-1867).
