In autumn, leaves on deciduous trees turn beautiful shades of red and orange. Hundreds of people come to Happo-en Garden to see fallen leaves floating beautifully on the surface of the garden's central pond. Surrounding this scene are a historic teahouse and 500-year-old bonsai trees. From Thursday, November 1 until the last day of the month, the garden's colorful foliage will be illuminated each evening.
The sight of the floating autumn leaves has a solemn beauty by night that differs from the atmosphere during the day. Spending a peaceful evening in the company of the leaves is an ideal way to experience the elegance of Japanese autumn.
