Chotaro-ike Tide Pool 長太郎池

Tsubota Miyakejima, Miyake Village, Tokyo

A natural inlet ideal for swimming and crabbing

Chotaro-ike is a natural tide pool formed by a volcanic eruption many centuries ago. It is around 50 meters wide, with concrete stairs leading to the water, making it accessible to families with young children. Chotaro-ike is ideal for crabbing and finding fish.
(Please take care on the stairs, which can be slippery.)
