Japan's most significant collection of Japanese and international children's books

Find a quiet escape at the International Library of Children's Literature, National Diet Library in Ueno. Perfect for families with small children, it houses the official collection of children's books and stories in Japan. The library has around 700,000 Japanese and international children's books.
This iconic brick building was built in 1906 and was once the old Imperial Library. The building was preserved and renovated, and now holds a children's library room, a "Meet the World" room, a research room, a book museum, and more. The recently added Arch Building hosts research rooms and a children's book reference room dedicated to the study of children.
