The sound of music
Home to the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sumida Triphony Hall boasts the best acoustics in the country. Designed by Nikken Sekkei and Nagata Acoustics, the concert hall’s main auditorium seats 1,801 people, while a smaller hall is available for more intimate performances of 252 people. A popular performance spot, the regular programs favor classical music and jazz.
While touring the city, you may come across one of the many "Fureai Concerts" that are organized by the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. Performing in various public facilities such as the local ward office, welfare facilities, and schools, they bring classical music to the out into the community.
