Mitsugo Limestone Cave 三ツ合鍾乳洞

Yozawa 1075, Akiruno City, Tokyo

Descend into the darkness of subterranean Tokyo

A visit to Mitsugo Limestone Cave is often made in conjunction with the larger Otake Limestone Cave just a 10-minute walk down the road. This cave is about 100 meters in its entirety and takes you about 20 minutes to walk through. You enter down a steep steel staircase wearing a helmet with a light that you borrow from the visitor center.

Along the way you'll encounter interesting geological features with creative names like the Arora Ceiling, named for its cascading patterns. There's also a small waterfall dedicated to a dragon god and praying there is said to bring long life. Take this opportunity to explore another world below Tokyo's surface. Because the schedule is irregular, contact the facility to confirm availability.
