Meguro Parasitological Museum 目黒寄生虫館

Dedicated to the unique and fascinating world of parasites, this museum is unusual even worldwide

For something a little off the typical tourist beaten track, visit the central Tokyo ward of Meguro to explore the skin-crawling Meguro Parasitological Museum. The museum is home to a collection of parasitic creatures from all facets of life. Typically there are around 300 items on display on any given day, including specimens in glass jars and other related materials.

The museum is the creation of parasitologist Dr. Satoru Kamegai. As you wander through the exhibit, keep an eye out for the star of the show, an 8.8-meter tapeworm that lived in the body of a patient who ate a fish containing a young parasite.

Note: The admission is free, but the museum always accepts donations to assist in its maintenance and operation.
