Kokubunji Yakushido Temple 国分寺薬師堂

1-13-16 Nishi Motomachi, Kokubunji City, Tokyo

See wooden carvings from the late Heian period (794–1185) at Kokubunji Yakushido Temple (the Buddha statue is open to the public only on Oct. 10 each year). Located near Kokubunji Manyo Garden and the Metropolitan Musashi Kokubunji Park, the temple has been designated an important tangible cultural property of the city, and it is a great spot to check out while walking around town.
