The Jingu Gaien Fireworks Festival has attracted nearly a million visitors each year since 1980, when the first edition was held to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Meiji Jingu Shrine. Large and small starmines are a highlight of the 12,000 colorful fireworks that light up the Tokyo night sky. The display can be viewed from Jingu Stadium, the Rubber-ball Baseball Ground, the Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Stadium, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Events are organized at each location, the most exciting being live music by big-name artists at the main venue, Jingu Stadium.
