Shikinejima is a tiny island with a population of about 550 located some 160 kilometers from Tokyo. The time passes slowly on this home of various onsen hot springs including the Jinata Hot Spring, which holds second place in the East Japan ranking.
Summer is the perfect season to take a safe, fun family trip to the countless unique beaches starting with the best-known Tomari Beach.
Activities including fishing, diving, sea kayaking, geocaching, and stargazing make for a mini luxury visit while wallowing in the nature of Shikinejima Island.
