Temporary Closing of the Tsukiji Market Tuna Auction Area During the Year End/New Year Holidays

According to annual tradition, the Tsukiji Market Tuna Auction Area will be temporarily closed during the busy year end/New Year period for safety and business-related reasons.

Temporary closing period

 

December 1 (Thu.), 2011 – January 21 (Sat.), 2012
 (The Auction Area will be re-opened from January 23 (Mon.), 2012.)

Measures during the temporary closing

 
  1. Near the various gates (including the Main Gate) and Fish Information Center (current reception area for visitors to the Tuna Auction Area), information will be displayed to inform visitors that the Tuna Auction Area will be temporarily closed during the above period.
  2. Guards will be stationed in front of the Tuna Auction Area to inform visitors that the area is temporarily closed.
3 Other
  Visitors are prohibited from entering the entire Tuna Auction Area. However, entering the broker sales area (from 9:00 a.m.) and related business area (restaurants, etc.) is still permitted.
