Ueno Zoological Gardens

Ueno Zoological Gardens is the oldest zoo in Japan housing over 500 species of animals including the rare Sumatran tiger and western lowland gorilla. You can also see some of the rarest living creatures in the world such as the okapi and pygmy hippopotamus. Various seasonal events are held throughout the year including an animal memorial service and midsummer night animal watches.
