The Hamarikyu Gardens that have a 350-year history let you enjoy a stroll through a Japanese garden, stopping by a teahouse and enjoying matcha powdered green tea and tea snacks. This course lets you see Japanese traditional culture, with a walk through the Tsukiji Outer Market lined with over 400 vendors selling mostly wholesale with a history from the Taisho period (1912-1926), a visit to Tsukiji Honganji Temple that is very distinctive featuring a main hall with an exterior designed like ancient Buddhist architecture from India, a tour of the Kabuki-za Theater that is a symbol of Japanese culture as a sanctuary to Kabuki, and a class making handmade washi paper using the traditional Japanese method.

*On Saturdays and Sundays, as handmade washi paper-making classes are not offered on the weekend, the tour ends at Ginza Station after observation of the Kabuki-za Theater building exterior.
The actual cost is 2,620 yen (breakdown: 1,180 yen per participant + 1,440 yen for accompanying guide for two people)
The tour takes about 2.5 hours.

Regarding Guide Services 

  • This guide service is provided by volunteers, and transportation is mainly by public transport or walking.
  • The participants for the guide service should be up to 5 people.
  • It will be accompanied by 2 tour guides.
  • Participants are required to pay the costs for an accompanying tour guide.
  • The fees shown here are for one participant. The price changes depending on the number of participants. We will notify you of the actual fee by email.
  • The fee for guide services should be paid with Japanese Yen.
  • Among the participants, there must be at least one person over 20 years old.
  • Some facilities may be closed depending on the day of the week. We ask for your understanding.
  • The time and date of departure changes depending on the course, so please check the details for each course.

* The fee is the amount required for transport and attraction admission fees. (Including the fees for two guides). It also includes the amount required for the guides to return to Shinjuku after the guidance finishes. The guidance itself is free of charge.

Regarding bookings

  1. To apply for a tour, click the “Apply here” button.
  2. We require you to inform us of your first and second preference for course and time/date. Please understand that we may be unable to offer guidance on your preferred date depending on volunteer schedules.
  3. Bookings are required from one month to three days prior to your preferred guidance date.
  4. After submitting your booking, we will send a response within a week. For bookings made from one week to three days before, we will respond the day before your preferred date at the latest. Be sure to include your contact details in Japan.
  5. To cancel a booking, please contact us at least one day prior.
