Recommended autumn foliage and flora viewing spots

With the advent of autumn, the crisp breeze feels nice and just walking in the streets brings the pleasure of seeing the foliage turn into hues of red and yellow. Tokyo is home to countless traditional gardens, botanical gardens, and well-kept parks as well as smaller parks and plazas for admiring the autumn foliage.
  • The vast gardens constructed over a period of seven years in the premodern Edo period reflect scenes from ancient Japanese waka poetry, like the Manyoshu and Kokin Wakashu anthologies, and classical Chinese literature.
