Sometimes it’s important to pause and come face-to-face with your inner self. This section introduces zazen seated meditation, shakyo transcription, and takigyo waterfall purification, which are suitable even for beginners.

Zazen seated meditation (Ryugenji Temple)

Ryugen-ji Temple welcomes between 80 and 100 people of various ages, occupations, and genders to participate in each session of zazen seated meditation followed by a lecture from the head priest.

Takigyo waterfall purification (Komadori Sanso)

Participants spend a night at the lodge, Komadori Sanso, and the following morning head to the waterfall some 2 kilometers away for the takigyo purification rite. After breakfast, the group pays a visit to Musashimitake-jinja Shrine, and disassembles around 11:00.
