Mt. Kumotori

Mt. Kumotori is the tallest mountain in the 23 ward area of Tokyo, featuring various flowers particularly in summer. The bright rocky ridges offer an excellent view, and the summit, the sight of Mt. Fuji.

Hachikokuyama Park

Hachikokuyama Park is situated on Tokyo’s border with Saitama Prefecture. The ridge stretching 1.9 kilometers east to west features moderate ups and downsfor a relatively easy walk while enjoying the view of pepperbush and Japanese Cherry trees.

Takiyama Park

Takiyama Park features a popular hiking trail commanding a wonderful view of Tamagawa River, Akikawa River, and the countryside. It also looks out over the remains of the Takiyama Castle built along the riverside cliffs.

Tamagawa-josui Canal Green Road

The green road stretches for about 24 kilometers along the Tamagawa-josui Canal built to draw drinking water from the Tamagawa River for the residents of Edo-period Tokyo.

Todoroki Valley

Todoroki Valley, situated on the southern edge of the Musashino Plateau, is one of the few valleys in Tokyo’s 23 ward area. The vast expanse of nature makes it hard to believe this is in the city center. Todoroki Fudoson Temple is a celebrated spot for viewing cherry blossoms in spring.

Mt. Mitake

Mt. Mitake is home to the ancient Musashi Mitake-jinja Shrine, built at the summit 929 meters above sea level. Highlights include a legendary deified zelkova, the shrine treasure house, the waterfall Ayahiro-no-Taki, and a rock garden.
