Odaiba

Odaiba is in the waterfront area and a definite must-see place in Tokyo where the whole family can enjoy the day. The cool breeze from the sea enhances the joy of roaming around the popular place for entertainment, eating and shopping.

Access to Odaiba

  • OdaibaOn the Yurikamome Line from Shimbashi: 13 minutes from Shimbashi Station to Odaiba-kaihinkoen (JY 310 one-way)
  • On the Rinkai Line from Shinjuku or Shibuya: 22 minutes from Shinjuku Station to Tokyo Teleport by the JR Saikyo Line with a direct connection to the Rinkai Line . ( JY 480 one-way)
  •  By water bus from Asakusa: Take the Tokyo Cruise Sumida-gawa Line from Asakusa and change to the Odaiba Line at Hinode Pier to Odaiba Kaihin Park. It takes about 40 minutes from Asakusa to Hinode Pier. (JY 760 one-way) It takes about 20 minutes from Hinode Pier to Odaiba Kaihin Park. (JY 460 one-way)

 The Tokyo Bay Shuttle free service is convenient for getting around in the Odaiba area. It operates every 15 to 20 minutes from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.

Odaiba Kaihin Park

Odaiba Kaihin Park faces Tokyo Bay and is symbolic of Odaiba as a metropolitan resort. Many people enjoy sunbathing and playing sports on the beach. Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Tower can be seen from there and at night, they are lit up to create beautiful and chic nightscapes.

Shiokaze ParkShiokaze Park is next to the "Museum of Maritime Science." "Sunny Terrace," where you can enjoy sunbathing and the unique object in the northern side of the park are must-see places. The park became a hot topic in 2009 they erected the giant 'life size' statue of the anime character Gundam.

Miraikan

Miraikan is a new-style science museum attracting people to leadingedge science technology with hands-on exhibitions and informative communication with the staff. Live performances by the humanoid robot ASIMO, special exhibitions and events are always taking place.

Ooedo Onsen Monogatari

This is a hot springs theme park built in the style of an old "Edo" (1603 to 1868) town. Colorful yukata are available to rent so you can feel just as if you are in the Edo period getting a hot spring cure. Some of the hot spring baths use water from 1,400 meters underground, and there is a footbath and a sand bath which can be enjoyed by women and men together, and restaurants. Popular among families is the play space where you can enjoy traditional Japanese games, like being at a fair.

VenusFort

The great view from the 115-meter tall Ferris wheel attracts many people to this commercial complex. At the Toyota showroom "Mega Web," you can see a historic car exhibition or enjoy a test drive of the latest models. "VenusFort" is a theme park-style shopping mall in the style of a medieval European town. The third floor was remodeled at the end of 2009 and the first "Venus Outlet" opened there. The complex has about 50 shops including big-name designer shops popular inside and outside of Japan. At the end of April, LAOX, a well-known electric appliance shop in Japan, opened on the ground floor. A wide range of items from the newest digital cameras to watches to folkcrafts are sold there.

Fuji Television

The architecture of the Fuji TV building has made it a landmark of Odaiba. Miniature sets of popular TV programs can be seen and an actual recording studio can be observed from above. The unique spherical observation room on the 25th floor is very popular among visitors and, when the weather permits, you can view the majestic Mt. Fuji from there.

Aqua City Odaiba

Aqua City Odaiba

This is a large shopping complex next to Odaiba Kaihin Park. After shopping among the 80 shops, mainly selling clothing, you can enjoy eating at "the Local Noodle Festival" which offers local foods from all over Japan. "Mediage," one of the largest cinema complexes in Tokyo, and the science exhibition "Sony Explorer Science" are close to Aqua City Odaiba.

Decks Tokyo Beach is Odaiba' s number one place for entertainment. There are various fashionable clothing shops and accessory shops. "Daiba Itchome Shotengai" is a reproduction of a mid-20th century town and "Joypolis" is a popular amusement park.

Gonpachi is an excellent chain of Japanese diners and President Bush visited their Nishiazabu shop. The cozy atmosphere is in the traditional architecture style and includes a view of Tokyo Bay , while enjoying their delicious Japanese cuisine.

The twinkling night view of Tokyo Metropolis, Rainbow Bridge, and Tokyo Tower from the 21st floor is registered as a heritage night view in Japan. The tasty French cuisine and precious night view is quite romantic.
