European Mode is an exhibition that presents evolution of women’s fashion when Europe was the home of fashion trends, and explores the social landscapes which created it.
The exhibit covers 250 years of history, including the Rococo-era of the 18th century when the French court spearheaded the fashion world, the industrial development's influence on 19th century society and fashion, up to the end of the 20th century, when the fashion world was inspired by youth culture.
Also in the exhibition you’ll find a collection of dresses that once belonged to Japanese singer and actress Fubuki Koshiji (1924-1980). Koshiji’s haute couture stage dresses from Paris became an integral part of her image during her performances. The display showcases her deep commitment to, and influence on contemporary fashion.
