Site of jinya(Ozato Tamaishi Wall) 陣屋跡(大里玉石垣)

Okago, Hachijo-machi, Tokyo

Japan has a rich military history, with numerous castles built for warlords and shogunates. On Hachiojima Island, all that remains of the former shogunate headquarters are the round stone walls which surround the encampment ruins. Built in 1528, the encampment was used most recently in the early 1900's.
