Hossawa Falls 払沢の滝

5545-2,5545-3, Hinohara Village, Tokyo

Escape to a secluded grove in Tokyo's green haven

Two hours away from downtown Tokyo, the Okutama area is a green haven, quite different from the central area of tangled concrete jungle. Okutama boasts a wide range of activities for nature lovers, and the Hossawa Falls are a great spot to explore.

The serene hideaway is a fifteen minute walk from the nearest bus stop, up a gentle slope. Perfect for a day trip, the walk to the waterfall takes you past a small tofu stand, a quirky café, and an old post office-turned-souvenir-shop.

Parking space is limited and can become quite crowded on weekend/holidays. Where possible, travelling via public transportation is recommended.

Okutama area is the city's slice of rural Japan. Its lakes and mountains attract outdoorsy types for activities ranging from kayaking and rafting to hiking.
