Kita Noh Theatre 十四世喜多六平太記念能楽堂(喜多能楽堂)

4-6-9 Kami-Osaki, Shinagawa City, Tokyo

Experience Japan's oldest dramatic arts first hand at the Kita Noh Theatre

Note: Closed until December 31, 2024 due to major renovations.

Highly trained actors and musicians work together to recreate the supernatural and magical stories of classic Noh dramas. Filled with ghosts, demons, and monsters, Noh is a strictly codified discipline that illustrates the lives of Japanese people between the 12th and 16th centuries. Despite the esoteric nature of the art, fans of music and dance will surely find the ethereal combination of sound and movement mesmerizing.

The Kita Noh Theatre has been the Tokyo base of a school of performance called Kita-ryu Noh for more than 450 years. In addition to regular performances, the company offers hands-on workshops and intensive lessons for visitors from all countries and backgrounds. Its goal is to welcome people from all over the world to the world of Noh.
