Yamatane Museum of Art 山種美術館

Connecting you to Japanese modern and contemporary art

The Yamatane Museum of Art houses works centered on the personal collection of Japanese-style paintings of Taneji Yamazaki, founder of Yamatane Securities (currently SMBC Nikko Securities Inc.). The collection of 1,800 works includes works by modern and contemporary Japanese artists. The museum also has collections of ukiyo-e, Edo paintings and oil paintings.

There are five to six themed and seasonal exhibitions throughout the year. Explore the traditions and aesthetics of Japan through the landscapes, wildlife, and culture depicted in these paintings.
