Fuchu Art Museum is located in Fuchunomori Park and is best accessed by bus or taxi from Fuchu Station. The park was once an American military base and is now an urban forest. The modern museum was built to reflect the lush, green surroundings. Inside, visitors can find a permanent collection of Nihonga, which are paintings from the 1900s onward done using traditional Japanese techniques. The museum's permanent collection features many paintings by artists from the nearby Tama and Fuchu areas. It also holds exhibitions by contemporary artists from across Japan. Enjoy a walk through the park and then take in some traditional and contemporary Japanese artwork.
