Tama Zoological Park 東京都多摩動物公園

7-1-1 Hodokubo, Hino City, Tokyo

Your current location:

Observe animals up close amidst lush nature

Tama Zoological Park sets itself apart from typical urban zoos. Utilizing the rich natural terrain of the Tama Hills, it features spacious enclosures where dynamic exhibits replicate the animals' behavior in the wild. There is a "Lion Bus" that you can ride to see lions up close. The zoo also has habitats for giraffes, chimpanzees, and orangutans. Large eagles fly around in the enclosed dome, and leafcutter ants—which collect leaves to cultivate their food—can also be viewed.

The zoo is made up of four main areas: the Asiatic Zone, the African Zone, the Australian Zone, and the Insectarium. Visit all four to see around 260 different animal species.
