1F exhibit room (townhouse alley)

2F exhibit room (sento public bath front desk)

The Shitamachi Museum was established to pass down to posterity the lifestyle, culture, and customs of artisans and merchants in premodern Tokyo. The first floor replicates a nagayatownhouse from the Taisho period some hundred years ago. Visitors are invited to take off their shoes and enter the rooms, and experience the scenes of shitamachi life throughout the four seasons. The second floor displays materials and tools of daily life in the shitamachi area of Tokyo centering on Taito-ku.
